PERAK secured the PHM-MILO-MSN national Under-16 title after coming from a goal down to defeat Malacca 2-1 at the Ministry of Education Stadium in Pantai today.
Perak were deserving winners as they showed great composure and determination after falling behind.
Malacca, who defeated defending champions Kuala Lumpur in the semifinal yesterday, took the lead in the 31st minute through Mohd Alif Syazwan Noorshah who netted through a penalty corner.
However, Perak pulled level in the 43rd minute when Muhd Luqman Hakim Mohd Asri picked up his goal, also from a penalty corner.
The winner came in the 56th minute when Muhammad Sheimyrul Azrel slotted home from another penalty corner for Perak.
“I could not have asked for more as the players showed courage and fighting spirit and they never gave up despite being a goal down,” said Perak coach Mohd Nizam Mohd Hashim.
“It is a good win for Perak as it shows we are on the right track in developing players.”
Kuala Lumpur secured third place after edging Terengganu 4-3.
Kuala Lumpur’s goals were scored by Muhammad Zulhazwan Hashim (10), Kavinash Panicker Thevendran (28 and 66) and Mohammad Shahfirul Aqmalb Mohd Saiful (54).
Terengganu picked up their goals from Muhammad Syafiq Izzudin Ibrahim (5 and 22), Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran (67).
In the girl’s category Penang edged Selangor 3-2 in the final.
Penang picked up their goals courtesy of Nur Aida Abdul Azim (10), Nur Syamini Atiqah Hishamul Anuar (17), Nur Atiqah Hazirah Mohd Ashr (66). Selangor’s goals were scored by Nor Azrina Mohd Ropi (7) and Zafikah Zainudin (65).
Kuala Lumpur secured third spot as they defeated Perak 2-1.
